Rose Castle Coton de Tulear Kennel believes in raising our dogs as family members. For decades these sweet gentile little darlings were the treasures of the Royal families. They were whelped, and raised by the Royal to be a close companion, and also conveniently warmed the feet. Cotons are always within eye sight of his owner following faithfully behind his master to the ends of the earth. They were chosen to be the Royal dog, because of their intelligence, sweet disposition, graceful beauty, and humorous behavior. With a Coton around you have a personal Clown. Once a wild dog in Madagascar they ran in packs. A story has been passed down about how they would out smart the alligators in the local rivers by luring them down to the deep end of the river by barking, and then once the alligators were far down the river they would run swiftly together to the shallow end and cross the river safely. I can just see my little Cotons Jasmine, and Chanel involved in a similar game at home. With a smile on their faces they figure out how to get into the treat box, or find a new toy, or out smart my daughters who have doll clothes in their hands, and plan to dress the dogs. Oh, and how they run you should see them run our 2 1/2 acres from one end to the other and back you can still see the wild dog in them. They never fail to amaze me.

We also believe in raising our puppies with a philosophy of a holy nature. A group of monks called the Monks of New Skete have a sort of art of raising dogs they believe in a very dog man attachment, and so do we. Our dogs complete us they so desire to please us, are loyal, and selfless we can learn a lot from our furry companions. Our dogs are not raised in a kennel environment they are raised in our home with love as a family member which sets our dogs, and puppies apart. We believe in loving them, and they love us back this effort to socialize them with the natural kindness of human nature married with consistent gentile discipline will develop a magnificent dog. We raise them from the moment they are born to know our voice to be a shepherd, to be used to human nurturing. They are used to the play of children, and the occasional brushing of the coat, nail clipping, loud sounds, big people, little people, but most of all they are accustom to our consistent love. Cotons learn quickly to obey if they are taught early they will thrive as an obedient, reliable, clownlike companion for life. So our job as a breeder is very important, and we take it very serious. For you, and our breed.

We believe in breeding only the best bloodlines. All our dogs' bloodlines date back to the original dogs bread for the Royal families. Long study, and dedication was put into every dog we brought to our kennel. The bloodlines are old, and come from Breeders who themselves have bread the Coton De Tulear for over 30 years. We gathered our Coton family from Europe, in France Jasmine Du Domaine de Luniray, In Spain Chanel, Ophelia, and Othello of Woodland Cottage, and Gwenivere from the USA in Texas. Every dog comes from a long line of champion bloodlines, we also health test every dog, and give a health guarantee for every puppy whelped at the Rose Castle. All our dog are proven having had whelped litters. Our puppies have exceeded our expectations so far, and we expect to produce the finest Cotons in the world. Over time this tradition of only breeding the best, and treating our dogs with kindness, and consideration will cause us to shine.
